Tarih:  Date

The Bauhaus School (1919-1933), which is known for its activities in Weimar-Dessau-Berlin in the first decades of the 20th century, celebrated its 100th anniversary of its foundation in 2019 by a series of events, programs and activities, in many countries throughout the world. Since its establishment the school has been of pioneering influence in architecture and other fields related to various branches of design, like furniture, industrial design, performing arts, sculpture, fashion and textile, urban planning, graphics and painting, visual communication and graphics; and even the fields of music, media arts and philosophy of art.

Bauhaus_100+TR is a compilation that aims to collectively share the evaluations, opinions and accumulations of full-time and part-time faculty members and research assistants of TED University Faculty of Architecture on "Bauhaus 2019". The topics cover a range from the reflections of Bauhaus on design education in Turkey, to reflections, effects and transformations of Bauhaus on Turkish design and Turkish art; to Bauhaus in detail and in interaction; the Bauhaus and criticism: history, design and traces; the Bauhaus in the poetical approaches of Turkish architects. The book also raises critical readings on the contradictions between art and design, the architectural legacy of the Bauhaus building, while revisiting the pedagogical influences of Bauhaus in Turkey, through schools of arts & crafts, basic design (Vorkurs) education, and experimental design exercises; the role of women and gender issues in the Bauhaus, and discussions on the conservation of the modern heritage; the idea of crafts and the practice of photography.
